Role Play -Half a Day

OBJECTIVE 1. To provide real-world scenarios that facilitate effective learning. 2. To enhance students' communicative and language skills. 3. To foster empathy and understanding of different perspectives by engaging students in character roles. 4. To help students overcome stage fright. PLANNING As part of our B.Ed curriculum, we were required to conduct an innovative lesson plan for our students. I chose the role-play method to teach the lesson "Half a Day" by Naguib Mahfouz. I believed that role-playing would be an effective and engaging way to convey the story's themes. The students volunteered for various characters in the story. I wrote the script for the role play and distributed it to the students. The story was divided into four scenes. After a few days of practice, the students performed the play beautifully on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. LEARNING OUTCOME Students will be able to: - Understand the basics of setting up a role play. - Gain a basic understanding ...

The week began on a significant note as I completed the unit .  Monday was a day of accomplishment, marking the end of our planned lessons. After weeks of engaging lessons, activities, and discussions, it was satisfying to see the students' understanding and enthusiasm grow. I distributed detailed notes to ensure that they had a comprehensive resource for revision and study. The students received these notes eagerly, expressing gratitude for the organized and clear content. This day felt like a milestone, not just in terms of finishing the syllabus but also in solidifying the bond we had formed over the weeks.  On Tuesday, I conducted the Achievement Test, a significant assessment aimed at gauging the students' understanding of the entire lessons. The students approached the test with enthusiasm and a sense of purpose, reflecting their commitment to doing well. Administering the test was a moment of reflection for me, as I considered the effectiveness of my teaching strategies...

On Monday as usual, I reached the school on time, prepared for a productive day. The morning started with a warm welcome from the students, and I quickly settled into the rhythm of teaching. I engaged my students properly, ensuring that they were attentive and actively participating in the lessons. We covered various topics, and I introduced some interactive activities to keep them motivated. Their eagerness to learn was evident, and it set a positive tone for the rest of the week. Tuesday was a public holiday, offering a brief respite from the regular school routine. Although it was a day off, I spent some time reflecting on the previous day's lessons and planning for the upcoming classes. This break also provided an opportunity to recharge and prepare for the days ahead. On Wednesday, I introduced a new lesson, "Nothing Twice" by Wislawa Szymborska. This poem explores the themes of impermanence and uniqueness, which sparked a lively and thoughtful class discussion. The ...

On Monday as usual, I engaged the class on time. I focused on teaching them the remaining portion of the lesson "Debts of Gratitude." The students were attentive and participated actively, which made the lesson flow smoothly. On Tuesday I provided the students with a comprehensive summary of the lesson. This helped reinforce their understanding and allowed them to ask questions about any parts they found challenging. The session was interactive, with many students sharing their interpretations and reflections on the lesson. On Wednesday I received constructive feedback from Sangeetha miss . Miss  commended my efforts and provided valuable suggestions for improvement. One key piece of advice was to include discourses that promote higher-order thinking skills. This feedback was crucial as it guided me to focus on developing the students' critical thinking and analytical abilities. On Thursday I discussed with the students the idea of conducting a role play based on the less...

Teaching Practice week 4( 01/07/24 - 05/07/24)

On Monday, I started my lesson as usual and utilized the class time effectively. Later, I received a substitution in 8th D, which reminded me of the significance of being prepared for unexpected changes and emphasized the need for flexibility and adaptability in teaching.  On Tuesday, I continued with the lesson "Debts of Gratitude" and nearly completed it by the end of the day. The students were engaged and showed a good understanding of the material.  On Wednesday, the day was dedicated to giving notes to the students. However, they were quite talkative, which required me to raise my voice to maintain order and ensure they were paying attention. Despite the disruption, I managed to get through the necessary content.  On Thursday, there was a strike, and no children were present in school. I utilized the time productively by writing lesson plans, which helped me prepare for the upcoming classes.  On Friday, we commemorated Basheer Day with a special assembly conduct...
