Teaching Practice Week 6 (15/07/24 - 19/07/24)
On Monday as usual, I reached the school on time, prepared for a productive day. The morning started with a warm welcome from the students, and I quickly settled into the rhythm of teaching. I engaged my students properly, ensuring that they were attentive and actively participating in the lessons. We covered various topics, and I introduced some interactive activities to keep them motivated. Their eagerness to learn was evident, and it set a positive tone for the rest of the week.
Tuesday was a public holiday, offering a brief respite from the regular school routine. Although it was a day off, I spent some time reflecting on the previous day's lessons and planning for the upcoming classes. This break also provided an opportunity to recharge and prepare for the days ahead.
On Wednesday, I introduced a new lesson, "Nothing Twice" by Wislawa Szymborska. This poem explores the themes of impermanence and uniqueness, which sparked a lively and thoughtful class discussion. The students were enthusiastic and respectful, contributing their insights and interpretations. I facilitated the discussion, encouraging them to think deeply about the poem's message and how it relates to their own experiences. It was a rewarding experience to see them engage so meaningfully with the material.
Thursday was a significant day as Sangeetha Miss observed my class. Her presence added a bit of pressure, but it also provided an opportunity to showcase my teaching methods. I conducted the lesson as planned, incorporating interactive activities and fostering a collaborative learning environment. Sangeetha Miss gave me constructive feedback, praising the aspects that went well and offering suggestions for improvement. This will help me refine my approach to teaching.
On Friday, I took all the remaining lessons and successfully finished the first unit. It was a busy day, but the sense of accomplishment was palpable. The students had a solid understanding of the material, and we reviewed the key concepts to reinforce their learning. Wrapping up the unit felt like a significant milestone, both for me and the students. It was gratifying to see their progress and know that our collective efforts had paid off.
Looking back, it was a productive and fulfilling week. Each day brought its unique challenges and rewards, contributing to a rich and varied teaching experience. The students' enthusiasm, the successful completion of the first unit all reinforced my passion for teaching. This week reminded me of the joy and purpose found in guiding students on their educational journey. As I move forward, I am motivated to continue striving for excellence, inspired by the positive experiences and valuable lessons learned.
